Robert E. Reede
Robert Edward Reede, a Middlesex County native, passed away Dec. 13 at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital.
He was a former member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Church View and was a graduate of St. Clare Walker High School where he played basketball and in the band.
He served in the U.S. Army and after his tour in the Vietnam War was honorably discharged in 1966.
He was employed by Bax’s Trucking Co. in Philadelphia, Pa., until he retired in 2007.
He was a member of First African Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Diane; daughters, Kimberlee and Karen of Georgia; son, Warren Boone of Philadelphia; uncle Willis Braxton Sr. of Saluda; stepmother, Mary R. Scott of Saluda; brothers, James (Ruby) Reede of Church View, Nelson Reede of Philadlephia, and Wiliam (Rosa) Reede of Glassboro, N.J.; sisters, Elizabeth McKellop and Marceline Reede of Philadelphia; half-sisters, Virginia Ward of Saluda and Nanie Holmes of Virginia, and Irene Reede of Wake; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church at Church View, Interment was in the Rev. B.H. Gayles Memorial Cemetery.
