Richard J. Stilwagen

Richard J. Stilwagen, 66, of Deltaville, died Wednesday, September 30, 2009. 

He was a retired sergeant and 20 year veteran of the NYC Police Department, served as a SeaBee in the U.S. Navy and as a reservist for the U.S. Army and the U.S. Coast Guard, and also was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary Post 62. 

He was secretary of the Virginia Waterman’s Association, and a volunteer ambulance driver and life member of the Middlesex County Volunteer Rescue Squad of Deltaville. 

Born July 5, 1943 in Oceanside, N.Y., he was the beloved husband of Eileen for 43 years; devoted father of Richard Jr. and his wife Carmen, and Elizabeth and her husband Mark Richards; and cherished grandfather of Mathew, Samantha, Kiera, Christian, Catherine, Chase and Cassie. 

He is also survived by his mother, Marian; a sister and 2 brothers; a sister in-law and her husband; and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his father, Edward.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 9, in Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Saluda. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Middlesex Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 98, Deltaville, VA 23043.
