Richard H. Elias

Richard H. Elias, 83, of Topping passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2012. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Diana S. Elias, and his sister, Marilyn Eastman.

The son of Richard R. and Agnes Elias, he was born on January 25, 1929 in Santa Monica California. He grew up in France, Austria and Yugoslavia achieving his early education through the Calvert Correspondence School. He graduated with a BS degree from the Maine Maritime Academy, was a licensed marine engineer with the U.S. Merchant Marine, and served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy.  Mr. Elias studied international law at Georgetown University and graduated with a second BS degree in 1954.

Mr. Elias began his career in the oil drilling business. He then worked as a project manager with the Babcock & Wilcox Naval Nuclear Division. He retired as the manager of Southern European Operations for Ingersoll-Rand Pump Division.

Mr. Elias will be greatly missed by his daughter, Robin Baymore of Manasquan, N.J.; son, Richard S. Elias and his wife Cathleen of Henryville, Pa.; and six grandchildren, Diane and Christopher Baymore, and Richard J., Megan, Soren and Trevor Elias.

A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manasquan, N.J., at 11 a.m. on January 26.
