Kathryn A. “Kitty” Dandridge
Kathryn “Kitty” Adams Dandridge of Village passed away at her home on Thursday, May 22, 2014 after a brief illness.
She is survived by her devoted friend, Cathy (C.J.) Somers; sister, Charlotte Mae Stinson of Blackstone; brother, William T. (Billy) Adams of Farmville; niece, Donna Gayle Paschal of Hanover; and a special companion, Suzy Q. She also leaves behind many “Northern Neck” friends and many friends from Powhatan, Amelia, and Cumberland counties. Kitty loved meeting people and had many friends at Bush Park Campground at Wake, where she enjoyed camping and fishing for years.
Kitty worked as a professional seamstress for years. She worked toward and earned her GED then began a 12-year career with the DOC as an officer working at Haynesville Correctional Center. She retired from Unit 17.
Many thanks to Kitty’s RGH nurses and staff. Also thanks to Dr. Stallings, Dr. Kevin McGrath, and the Hospice of Virginia. Special thanks to Vanessa, her private duty nurse, who took great care of Kitty.
Family and friends will meet at the Marks Chapel of the Welch Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. Come as you are. Interment will be private.
A celebration of Kitty’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Virginia.
