Surrounded by his family, Joseph C. Harris, 73, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. He was the beloved son of Lynn B. Harris Sr. and Alice Jackson Harris.

Joe was born on March 3, 1945 in Middlesex County. He was a graduate of St. Clare Walker High School in 1963 and later moved to Washington, D.C., that year. In 1966 he was joined in holy matrimony to Brenda Faye Williams. From this union they had two children, Consuelo and Crystal.

Joe was a dedicated bus operator for WMATA (Metro) for 30 years until his retirement. He was member of Rock Creek Baptist Church for over 50 years, and served as a deacon and other capacities within the church.

He was survived by his wife, Brenda Faye Harris of Hyattsville, Md.; two daughters, Consuelo Jackson (Eric) of Bowie, Md., and Crystal Ceasar (Malcolm) of Fredericksburg; five grandchildren, Tamika Sproul (Clarence) of Philadelphia, Pa., Eric Jackson II of Bowie Md., and Myles, Braxton and Noah Ceasar of Fredericksburg; and one brother, Walter Harris of Hartfield.

Three siblings preceded him in death, Lynn Harris Jr. (Joan) of Topping, Timothy Harris (Vivian) of Pomokey, Md., and Addie Howard of Middlesex.

His Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 25, at Rock Creek Baptist Church, 6707 Woodyard Road, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772. The viewing will be at 10 a.m. and the service will be at 11 a.m.
