John Beverley White Sr.

John Beverley White Sr. of Deltaville, formerly of Chesterfield, departed this life to be with our Heavenly Father on Monday, April 27, 2009 from his home in Deltaville. 

Mr. White was born March 31, 1922 and is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Lois Reed White; his daughter, Peggy White Jordan and her husband Kenneth H. Jordan III; his grandson, Darrell Weston Macy; two granddaughters, Julia White Kellum and Beverly Renee White; two great-grandsons, William Griffin Kellum V and Johnathon Jerome Kellum; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

His son, John Beverley White Jr., tragically pre-deceased him in 1987.

Mr. White was the last known survivor of the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) in Chesterfield County, which was started in Virginia in 1933 by President Roosevelt under the Emergency Conservation Work Act. He served in the CCC from 1938-1941 and helped to build what is today know as Pocahontas State Park in Chesterfield County.  He is a veteran of the Korean War, where he served in the Pacific from 1943-1946.

The family will receive friends and family at Morrisette Funeral Home on Ironbridge Road in Chesterfield County on Wednesday, April 29, from 6 to 8 p.m.  Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 30, at 11 a.m. with an internment directly following at Dale Memorial Park.
