James A. “Jimmie” Jessie Sr.

James A. “Jimmie” Jessie Sr., 67 of Hartfield passed away on Monday, March 26, 2018. He was preceded in death by his son, James A. Jessie Jr.; his parents, Annie and Ryland Jessie Sr.; and his brother, Ryland Jessie Jr.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Judy Jessie; a daughter, Angel Ford (Jamie); a son, Justin A. Jessie (Elizabeth) and a daughter-in-law, Sarah E. Jessie, of Henrico; one brother, Tommy (Gloria); and a sister, Suzanne Davis (Burton). Jim was blessed with eight grandchildren, Adam and Lauren Ford, Hannah, Grace, Caroline, Justin, Courtney and Carly Jessie; one great-grandson, Lucas Ford; and a host of loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Jim was a lifelong resident of Middlesex, where he worked for his father, W. Ryland Jessie Sr., as a Marine Contractor. Jim started his own business J.A. Jessie and Sons, Marine Contracting. Jim served as a loyal and dedicated Deputy Sheriff with the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office from April 1978 until 1991, where he retained the rank of Captain, Chief Deputy, before ending his service. Jim was a quiet, kind, and compassionate man, true to his word and a true friend in deed, he knew no strangers and would lend a hand to anyone in need. Jim will be sorely missed by all.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 7, at 2 p.m. at Clarksbury United Methodist Church, in Deltaville. The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. at the church, prior to the service. Arrangements by Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel, Saluda.
