Ida M.G. Chandler
Ida Mae Gillen Chandler answered her master’s call on Jan. 31, 2009 at Riverside Convalescent Center, Saluda.
Her life began October 5, 1932 in Cobbs Creek to the parents of Alice Milby Gillen and Joseph Elmer Gillen. She was a resident of King and Queen County and a member of Shackelfords Chapel United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Thomas Francis Chandler; a sister, Evelyn Marshall; and a brother, Raymond Gillen.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory a son, Francis E. Chandler, and a daughter and her husband, Margaret and Larry Horsley, all of Shacklefords; five grandchildren and their spouses, Theresa and Steven Whittaker, Carl and Taryn Haden, Sherry Horsley, Larry and Amanda Horsely, and Shannon and Chris Bertrand; six great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Makayla, Whit, Jadyn, Ian and Hunter; a sister, Georgia Lee Marshall; and extended family, Angela Cates, Stephen Page, Duayne and Cathy Hoolapa and Alicia Rudd.
The family would like to give a special thank-you for all the loving tender care given by those at Riverside Convalescent Center, Saluda.
A funeral service will be conducted at Shackelfords Chapel United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 3, and conclude at the gravesite.
