Faye Humphreys Sadler

Faye Humphreys Sadler

Faye Humphreys Sadler, 89, of Deltaville, formerly of West Point, passed away March 11, 2019. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of West Point and the River View Chapter #69 Eastern Star, and she retired from Chesapeake Corporation as a lab technician. Over the years, many wonderful summer days were spent at the family’s river cabin in Deltaville. Four years ago, Faye was able to build “The Cabin” in this spot, a home where she could reside year round. “The Cabin” was a blessing she relished, a place she lived out her twilight years, and the place she would leave for Heaven.

Faye thoroughly enjoyed crocheting and ensured everyone had a handmade dishrag, crocheted with love, every Christmas. Spending time with family was her greatest joy. She lit up when she saw them and waved goodbye until they were out of sight. There was no doubt the depths of her love for them. Her gentle speech, kind heart and sweet smile will never be forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hezekiah Sadler Jr.; her parents, Homer A. Humphreys Sr. and Ruth Gilbert Humphreys; sisters, Joye Harris and Jane Humphreys; and sister-in-law, Virginia Humphreys.

Faye is survived by her son, Joseph Earl Sadler (Sandy); daughters, Bonnie Sadler Wright (William) and Ruth Ellen Sadler Parsley; and her son-in-law, Edward “Peanut” Parsley, who followed her in passing, later the same day. She will be lovingly remembered by her seven grandchildren, Shannon Taylor (Jason), Matthew Sadler (Kaitlyn), Connie Alexander (John), Jennifer Wright (René), Amy Maloney (Jason), Bruce Parsley (Erin), and Shawn Parsley (Sarah); ten great-grandchildren, Olivia, Maya, Wyatt, Henry, Ruthie, Emma, Sadler, Liam, Nico and Addy; as well as her sisters, Kaye Despain, and Anne Talman; brother, Homer Humphreys Jr.; and brother-in-law, James M. H. Harris Jr.

The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 15, at West Point Christian Church, 290 W. Euclid Blvd., West Point, with the memorial service beginning at 11 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Deltaville Rescue Squad, 17684 General Puller Hwy., Deltaville, VA 23043.

Arrangements are being handled by Vincent Funeral Home, West Point Chapel. Tributes may be posted at
