Ernest Lockley Jr.
Ernest Lockley Jr. was called to be with the Lord on Monday, January 4, 2010 at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital, Gloucester.
He was born February 23,1930. Lovingly known as “Stiff,” he was wed to his longtime love, Carleen West, on February 14, 2004.
He had been a committed farmer and was employed by Crittenden Farms for many years. He attended school in Middlesex County and loved gardening.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Mary and Ernest Lockley Sr.; three brothers, Samuel Lockley Sr., Percy Lockley Sr. and Gernell Lockley; and one sister, Ruth Shirley Thornton.
Survivors include his wife, Carleen West Lockley; a devoted daughter, Shante’ LaNise of Locust HIll; a son, Brian of Newport News; three grandchildren, Honesty, Tyler and DeAndre’; two sisters, Ruby Briggs of Locust Hill and Theodosia (Alvin Sr.) of Wake; four brothers, Clarence Lockley and Joseph Lockley of Locust Hill, L. Preston Lockley (Ann) of Topping, and Marvin (Thelma) of Urbanna; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Franklin) of Locust Hill and Ernestine (Lewis Jr.) of West Point; two brothers-in-law, Michael (Jean) of Woods Cross Roads, and Carl of West Point; father-in-law, James West of Locust Hill; mother-in-law, Virginia West of Urbanna; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral service was held Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church. Interment was in the church cemetery.
