Eloise B. Ward
Eloise Brown Ward passed away in March. She was born on Nov. 27, 1919 in Middlesex County to the late Webster and Millie Brown. She was the oldest of eight children.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Claybrook Ward.
Mrs. Ward was a dedicated homemaker. One of her many skills that she enjoyed was quilt making. She helped a lot of family and friends get through the cold winters. During the hot summer months her special brewed iced tea was always so refreshing. Although not having children of her own, Eloise was a stern but loving influence in the lives of her nieces and nephews.
After the death of her parents, she moved from Virginia to Philadelphia, Pa., in 1990. Despite her declining health in , she always displayed a supportive, unselfish spirit.
Survivors include three sisters, Mable Ward, Gertrude Wyche and Claris McCray; three brothers, Stephen Brown, Harry Brown and Stanley Brown; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and special friends.
A funeral service was held March 28 at Metropolitan Baptist Church, Samos. Interment was in the church cemetery.
