Dorothy G. Hines
Dorothy Gibson Hines passed away suddenly after a long illness on Tuesday May 21, 2013 at Memorial Regional Center in Mechanicsville.
“Dottie” was born in Baltimore, Md., to the late Helen E. and John Roland Gibson and later a resident of Catonsville, Mad. She grew up in Baltimore, attended St. Joseph’s Monastery, and was a graduate of the Institute of Notre Dame.
After graduating, she was employed by the C&P Telephone Company for 35 years, retiring as manager. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. After retirement, she became a longtime resident of Urbanna, where she was a member of the Middlesex Woman’s Club and John Mitchell Garden Club. Dottie enjoyed gardening, golf, quilting and travel. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed hosting numerous parties. She is survived by her husband, J. Allen; sisters, Mary Eleanor Goshell, Patricia Hobler Smith, Jean Frances Lucido, and Kathleen Marie Dent; and numerous loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister, Margaret Mary Metzger.
Friends will be received on Monday, May 27, at the Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Saluda, from 6-8 p.m. A rosary service will begin at 5:45 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, at Church of the Visitation, 8462 General Puller Hwy. (Rt 33), Topping. Interment will follow at church cemetery.
