Delight M. Jackson
Deaconess Delight McGill Jackson of West Point departed this life on Saturday, July 5, 2008.
She was an active member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church and a graduate of St. Clare Walker High School in Middlesex. She spent her working years at the Naval Weapons Station, then the Williamsburg Soap and Candle Factory, from which she retired.
She volunteered at the West Point Good Neighbor Center until she became ill.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence “Dickie” Jackson; children, Eddra Taye Bortters and her husband James of Texas, Kari Jackson of West Point, and Chip Jackson and his wife Jennifer of West Point; grandchildren, Jason and Jami, McGill and Christy; four great-grandchildren; sister, Anne Harrod and husband Roy of Yorktown; brother, George McGill and wife Clara of Richmond; uncle and aunt, William and Zule Johnson; aunt, Tula Johnson; aunt, Pauline Johnson; sister-in-law and best friend, Shirley Pollard; and a host of nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service was held July 11 at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, West Point. Interment was in Sunny Slope, West Point.
