Cynthia R.J. Bass
Cynthia Rosetta Jordan Bass passed away Jan. 19, 2009. She was born January 11, 1945 in Bryn Mawr, Pa., the first child of John H. Jordan Sr. and Rosa E. Jordan.
She was educated in the Middlesex County Schools and graduated from St. Clare Walker High School. She graduated from Cortez Peters School in Washington, D.C., in 1966. After graduation, she remained in D.C. and worked for the Department of the Navy.
Mrs. Bass joined Antioch Baptist Church at an early age and remained an active member until her death. As a youth, she was active in the Sunday school, serving as secretary; and she sang in the junior choir. Later, she worked with the missionaries and served on the usher board.
She was married to James Leo Bass Sr. on January 8, 1973. Mr. Bass preceded here in death. Cynthia and Leo had three children, Karen Denise Bass of Saluda, Regina Bass, who preceded her in death, and James Thomas Leo Bass.
Mrs. Bass returned to Middlesex County and was employed with Bay Aging. She dearly enjoyed taking care of the clients of this agency. She also was active in local civic activities and served as a poll worker in the November election.
Survivors who share precious memories and fondness are her children, Karen Denise Bass of Saluda and James Thomas Leo Bass; her grandchildren, Tiffany Bass, Chiquita Bass and Kayla Bass; her brothers, John H. Jordan Jr. (Ruth) of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Robert M. Jordan of Kilmarnock.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at Antioch Baptist Church, Saluda. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church.
