Connie L. Crittenden
Connie L. Crittenden, 61, of Mathews left her loving family and friends to be with her Lord on Wednesday, April 1, 2009. She was born in Toledo, Ohio, and grew up in Irvington.
She was a graduate of St. Margaret’s School in Tappahannock. She received her bachelor’s degree from Longwood University and her masters from UVa in speech pathology. She taught school for 30 years, 26 of those years in Mathews.
Mrs. Crittenden spent her life devoted to others, never concerned about self. She had many friends whom she loved dearly, especially her church family at Cornerstone Fellowship. She had a special way with children. Her grandchildren adored her and they called her “Mi Mi” or Connie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chandler and Joyce Luckham; her son Stewart; her daughter Becky; and her grandson Matt.
She is survived by the 31-year love of her life, husband Frank; her daughter Allison and husband Scott Woolard; her two sons, David, and Charlie and his wife Sandra; nine grandchildren, Daniel, Aaron, Noah, Keely, Emma, Caroline, Morgan and twins Abby and Zoe; brothers, Gary and his wife Pam, and Maurice and his wife Paula; stepmother Margaret; niece Tiffany; nephew Brian; and her special brother-in-law, Turk Crittenden and his wife Lucina of Hardyville.
Graveside funeral services will be Sunday, April 5, at 3 p.m. at H.C. Smither Memorial Cemetery, Hudgins.
Memorial donations may be made to the Matthew Stewart Crittenden Scholarship Fund, C/O Fran Miller, 356 Healeys Creek Drive, Hardyville, VA 23070. The family will not accept any flowers or food.
