Sue graduated from Washington-Lee High School in Arlington, and from Tidewater Community College.  She served as Assistant Director of Human Resources at the Middle Peninsula-Northern Neck Community Services Board, and served as the current President of the Kiwanis of Middlesex.  In both of those capacities she enjoyed helping others and serving the community.

During her years living in Arlington and Portsmouth she worked at Clarendon Trust Co., and Citizen’s Trust Co.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt.  She was a friend to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Edna Gilliam, and brother, Robert Clark Gilliam.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Dr. Joseph Pociask of Urbanna; her sons, Josef (Amanda) of Christiansburg, Christopher (Sara) and Anton (Shannon), both of Portsmouth; six beautiful grandchildren, Josef Francis Jr., Margaret Sue, Ashlyn Marie, Nathan Patrick, Landon Everett and Bradon Samuel, whom she loved and adored; brothers, Everett Burton Gilliam (Bobbie) of Clover, S.C.,  and Ronnie Fulton Gilliam of Urbanna; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.  There are many dear lifelong friends too numerous to name, and many other neighbors and friends who had the privilege to know her, and whom she loved dearly.

A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 9, in St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Portsmouth, with a memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday in Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Saluda.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kiwanis Club of Middlesex, P.O. Box 314, Urbanna, VA 23175.
