Mildred M. Rankin
Mildred Massey Rankin went to be with the Lord and joined Herbert, her husband of 69 years, on January 9, 2011. She was born in Newport News in 1921. Even though her later years were spent in Florida in retirement, she held Virginia close to her heart and would tell everyone with pride that she was a native Virginian.

Dwayne Carl Wilson, 60, of Gloucester, died Monday, January 10, 2011 at his home. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 15, at Salem UMC, Gloucester, officiated by Rev. Rita L. Staul. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

Mary Fitchett Newman, 69, of Urbanna went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 6, 2011. She is survived by her husband, Richard B. Newman; sons, Chris, Aubrey and Dean; sisters, Martha Green and Virginia Tate; brother, William Sexton; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Jackson was a graduate from Syringa High School. He served in the United States Air Force. He retired from Joseph E. Seagrams Distillery Company Inc. in Relay, Md., as a bottler. He was a member of Allied Distillery Workers International Union.

Dr. Nichols founded White Stone Family Practice in 1979 and was the primary physician for Tangier Island for the past 31 years. He was named Country Doctor of the Decade by a national physician staffing firm during the dedication in August 2010 of the David B. Nichols Health Center on Tangier Island.
