Bernice W. Honablue
Bernice White Honablue, 89, of Locust Hill quietly passed away Sunday afternoon June 5, 2011 at home surrounded by family. Mrs. Honablue was born in Clinton, S.C., to Rev. Willie White and Bessie Jeter White. She received her bachelor's degree in home economics from Allen University, Columbia, S.C., in 1943.

Susie E. Miller, 77, of Locust Hill died Wednesday, June 8, 2011. She was the widow of J. Franklin Miller and was predeceased by her parents, William McKinley and Carrie West Smith. She was a member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church.

William Minor DeHardit of Gloucester, founder of Glo-Quips newspaper and publisher at DeHardit Press, died Tuesday, May 31, 2011. He was 82. “His death signals a further lessening of the ranks of those who bridges the chasm between the Old and New Dominion,” said friend and Former Virginia Governor Doug Wilder.

Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, he was a son of the late Juan Buenaventura Cros and Adela Coll de Cros. Juan attended the University of Ponce, the University of Colorado at Boulder, and VCU. Juan’s pride was attending Fork Union Military Academy, where he met his loving wife Lillian, and became second in command as Major of the Battalion Staff, class of 1959.

Leah was born in Randolph, Vermont, on February 25, 1936, and graduated from Natick High School in Massachusetts in 1954. She married Joe Goodson of Newton, Texas, in Marshfield, Mass., on March 30, 1968. They lived for over 20 years in Virginia.
