John Melvin Ward Sr.
John Melvin Ward Sr., 84, of Deltaville and Urbanna died Monday, November 15, 2010 after a long illness. Known to all as Melvin, he was a lifelong Chesapeake Bay buyboat captain of the “Ward. Bros.” and the grain vessel “Chief.”

Calvin Flood Major, 84, of Richmond and Deltaville died November 4, 2010. He was a graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y., and sailed as a Midshipman cadet in World War II and served in the Navy in the Korean War.
