Carolyn Spangler Smith, 68, of Newport News passed away March 5, 2012. She retired in 1999 as administrative assistant from Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Co. Carolyn was a member of Aldersgate Methodist Church in Hampton, and a Daughter of the American Revolution.

Lucy T. Hock, 89, of Richmond and formerly of Hartfield, wife of the late Walter J. Hock, died March 4, 2012. She is survived by her son, Joseph Hock; daughters, Patty Deaton and Genevieve "Genny" Spicer; eight grandchildren, Joe, Annette, Sarah, Christine, Jason, Barbara, Amy and Karen; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Eleftherios "Ted" Boyatzies, 79, of Hartfield passed away February19, 2012 at home after a lengthy illness. Ted was born August 24, 1932 in Rochester, N.Y., the son of the late James and Helene Bougdanos Boyatzies. He came from Iowa to Hartfield with his wife in 1999. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan at the time of the Korean War.
