Edward Tucker Nelson Sr., 78, of Saluda, died September 1, 2011 from complications of Alzheimer’s. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, was former owner of Nelson’s Citgo Gas Station in Hampton, and retired from Empire Sales as superintendent.

Irving Lenwood “Dee Shy” Burrell, 93, of Syringa, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at his home. He is survived by his wife, Rosaline Burrell; a daughter, Patricia Pleasants of Hampton; three sons, Kevin, Rydell and Berkley, all of Middlesex; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was born Minnie Odessa Braxton from the union of the late George E. Braxton and Elizabeth Key Braxton of Middlesex County on July 6, 1922.
