Edward J. Sutherlin
Edward James Sutherlin (“Pee Wee,” “Skipper”) was born to the late Mary A. Sutherlin in Locust Hill on August 1, 1943. He was reared by his grandparents, James and Martha Ann Sutherlin. He departed this life December 23, 2009 at his residence in Locust Hill.

During his 50-year tenure as a waterman on the Chesapeake Bay, he worked with his fellow watermen to preserve their professional traditions. In addition, he was a devoted member of the Union Prospect Baptist Church, his family and community.

Mr. Scott was educated in the public schools of Middlesex County. He served in the U.S. Army for a short period of time. He also was employed at the Newport News Shipyard for 35 years. He was preceded in death by his brother, Chester T. Scott.

Mr. Grimstead served in the U.S. Army and retired from Milford Haven Crab House on Gwynn’s Island. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pearl and Doodle Grimstead; a daughter, Roberta G. Benson; a grandson, Scotty G. Benson; and two brothers.
