Franklin “Junior” Smith, 78, of Hartfield, formerly of Lancaster County, died October 12, 2012. He was a retired Virginia Department of Transportation employee. Graveside services were held Sunday at White Marsh United Methodist Church, Lancaster.

He was a member and past Master of Masonic Lodge #83 AF&AM in Urbanna, and a member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter #69 in West Point.
