Urbanna Christmas Parade set for Friday

The Urbanna Christmas Parade and other holiday activities will be held this Friday, Dec. 5, in downtown Urbanna. About 70 units will be in the 7 p.m. parade. All parade participants are asked to be at the parade lineup in the old Urbanna Lumber parking lot at 6 p.m.

Beasts of burden

Up until the early 20th century animals such as teams of oxen provided power on land. These beasts of burden built civilizations. They were the “bulldozers” and trucks of ancient man. With them, humans could clear land, plow fields and pull carts loaded with grain to be stored for the winter.
