The Middlesex Family YMCA is an example of what a dedicated community can do to help one another.

From concept through construction, the community came together to create the Y and thus improved the lives of many.

“The Y is us . . . and are the ‘us’ in the YMCA,” Y director Rosabeth Ward Kissman told the audience at the 19th annual Pride of Middlesex Award banquet presented by the Middlesex Rotary Charitable Foundation Inc. on April 14, 2018.

Through the Y, strong values and healthy lifestyles are reinforced, now and for generations to come. “You are the keepers of this great organization that will continue to change lives in Middlesex County because of the legacy you choose to leave,” said Kissman.

In its 14 years, the Y has grown to 1,400 members and it had 31,000 participants in 2017.

“This [Pride of Middlesex] Award recognizes our work together to make this community great,” she said.
