VIDEO: Veterans Day ceremony is Saturday

by Larry Chowning

On Saturday, November 11, our nation celebrates Veterans Day for the sacrifices made by men and women who have served our country in the armed services.

A Veterans Day ceremony will be held on the historic courthouse lawn at 11 a.m. this Saturday, November 11. It is sponsored by the American Legion Post 82, American Legion Post 241 and the citizens of Middlesex County.

The program will include a welcome by John D. (Jack) Miller, chairman of the Middlesex County Board of Supervisors; invocation, Reverend Eddie Heath; march of colors, Marine Corps Detachment from Fort Lee; and singing of the National Anthem, Lois Jean Brooks.

Also, there will be recognition statements by Christopher McCue of American Legion Post 82 and William Bagby of American Legion Post 241, followed by music by the St. Clare Walker Middle School Band.

The keynote speaker will be chaplain Colonel (retired) Todd Combee and recognition of the branches of services will be made by John M. Moore.

Dr. Darryl J. Pirok will place the wreath on the courthouse monument honoring all five branches of the service, and Reverend R. Bruce Johnson will give the benediction.
