Two file for election

Two candidates have qualified to have their names on the ballot for Middlesex County offices in the November 5, 2019 general election, reported Melissa D. Welch, director of elections and general registrar.

E. Mae Burke is now a qualified candidate for Middlesex Commissioner of the Revenue, and Kathy S. Thrift is now a qualified candidate for Middlesex Treasurer.

Offices on the November 5 ballot will be seats on the Middlesex Board of Supervisors and the Middlesex School Board for Pinetop, Jamaica and Harmony Village districts.

Middlesex Constitutional offices on the ballot include the Commonwealth’s Attorney, Commissioner of the Revenue, Sheriff, and Treasurer.

Also on the ballot are two seats on the Soil and Water Conservation District Commission.

All terms are for four years.

State offices on the ballot include the Virginia Senate and House of Delegates.

The deadline to file as a candidate is June 11, 2019.
