Town pool has structural damage; leaking water

by Tom Chillemi

Urbanna’s town pool has some big problems, reported town administrator Holly Gailey at recent meetings of the Urbanna Town Council.

Large pieces of concrete plaster fell off the sides of the town pool and an excessive amount of water has been lost, reported Gailey at the July 11 town council work session and at the July 21 regular monthly meeting.

During three days in early July, about 80,000 gallons went through openings in the pool sides. That’s half the pool’s capacity of 160,000 gallons.

Mayor Don Richwine noted the town would have to borrow money to replace the pool.
