Topping man killed in single-car crash

A Topping man died in a single-vehicle crash on Wednesday, October 16, at about 8:12 p.m. at Locust Hill, reported First Sergeant Caren M. Sterling of the Virginia State Police. 

William Howard Hill, 56, of Topping, was traveling east on Route 33 when he ran off the right side of the road and struck trees. Hill was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Hill was operating a 1984 Ford F-150 pick-up truck. He was the only occupant.

The accident occurred approximately .2 of a mile east of Rt. 696 (Queen’s Point Road) near Debbie’s Restaurant at Locust Hill. Hill was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the accident is still under investigation, said First Sergeant Sterling.
