Supervisors and mayor praise sheriff in handling of concert

by Larry Chowning

The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors and Urbanna Town Council praised Sheriff David Bushey and his staff for the outcome of the “Raise our Voices II” concert held on Friday, September 1, at the Urbanna Firehouse.

Hartfield District supervisor Bob LeBoeuf said at the board’s September 5 meeting, “I want to commend the sheriff and his staff for a job well done. I understand the concert in Urbanna went well even though there was some indication there might be difficulties.”

Jamaica District supervisor Wayne Jessie said, “There weren’t any difficulties. It was peaceful and it was what I thought it was going to be all along. It rained like crazy but people did not complain.

“There were 1,500 people there and no one complained about anything nor were there any racial problems,” said Jessie. “It went off very smoothly and yet we still have some people complaining today because it was held in Urbanna. That’s Middlesex for you!”
