Sunny skies forecast for Urbanna Oyster Festival

by Tom Chillemi

Superstorm “Sandy” is history, and the skies are clearing for the 55th Urbanna Oyster Festival this Friday and Saturday, November 2-3. Temperatures are expected to be around 60 degrees.

For two days, visitors will find action all over Urbanna from the waterfront to the firehouse. There will be music, entertainment, and dozens of vendors offering food, crafts, clothing, accessories and much more.

Oysters will be the main fare, in stews or on the half shell, roasted or raw. There will be an international cuisine that can only be found at festival time, and sweets for dessert.

There will be two parades—one on each day. The Firemen’s Parade is Friday at 7 p.m.; and the Oyster Festival Parade will be on Saturday at 2 p.m. Both will follow a new route.

For a schedule of events, and the rest of the festival story, see the special pull-out section inside this issue of the Sentinel.

Come early and stay late. There’s lots to see, hear, taste and do—and it’s all happening in Urbanna—the way it has since 1958.

See a live stream of Oyster Festival and more in our special Oyster Festival section.
