Auction is Friday; gala is Saturday

This Friday and Saturday, July 10-11, are good times to skip cooking, relax, and enjoy live music, entertainment and good food—all while raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Everyone is invited to Fishing Bay Yacht Club in Deltaville on Friday for live music, crab cakes, liquid refreshment, and both a silent and live auction. There is no admission charge. Tickets for the crab cake dinner that night are $10 each and available at the door.

The public is also invited to Saturday evening’s free gala at Fishing Bay Yacht Club. “Sweet Justice” will perform from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. Tickets for the chicken dinner are $20 and available at the door.

The Southern Chesapeake Leukemia Cup Regatta races on July 11-12 will mark the beginning of the event’s second decade. Leading up to the regatta, sailors and their crews raise funds for the Leukemia Society, which gives them a chance to compete for prizes and a “fantasy sail” with Gary Jobson, world class sailor, television commentator and author.

The regatta is co-hosted by Fishing Bay Yacht Club and Stingray Harbour Yacht Club, both in Deltaville.

There is still time to sign up for the regatta, which already has 85 boats registered. For more information, contact Laura Boone, campaign coordinator, at 804-627-0400, ext. 24, or email , or visit http://www.fbyc.net.

The Southern Chesapeake Leukemia Cup Regatta has raised over $1,500,000 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society since its inception and was honored as the sixth top fundraiser out of 38 Leukemia Cup Regattas nationwide in 2008.
