Middlesex man arrested on sexual assault charges
Middlesex County Sheriff David P. Bushey announced on July 18 that a Middlesex County man is behind bars on four charges related to the sexual assault of a minor.
Joshua M. Hayes, 19, turned himself in to sheriff’s investigators on July 18. He is being held without bond at the Middle Peninsula Regional Security Center in Saluda on two counts of carnal knowledge of a minor between the ages of 13 and 15; one count of taking indecent liberties with a minor; and one count of forcible sodomy.
The arrest is the result of an investigation by the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office into a report of a 13-year-old North Carolina female being sexually assaulted while visiting family in the county during late June and early July.
The investigation remains ongoing at this time, said Sheriff Bushey. Anyone with information about this incident, or other related incidents, is asked to please contact the Sheriff’s Office through the Middlesex County Crime Line at 804-758-5600.
