Lifeguard and CPR classes offered at Bethpage

This summer Bethpage Camp-Resort near Urbanna will offer complete lifeguard certification and CPR for lay responders (non-lifeguards) classes this spring, as well as re-certification courses in life-guarding and CPR. 

Currently, Bethpage Camp-Resort has three different times and dates for individuals seeking an initial lifeguard certification.  These dates are Monday, May 20, through Friday, May 24, from 3:30-8 p.m.; Monday, May 27, through Friday, May 31, from 3:30-8 p.m.; and the final scheduled class is June 24-28 from 1-6 p.m.  Participants must attend all classes in each session. 

The cost for the class is $125.  Participants should make checks made payable to Bethpage Camp Resort and pay prior to the class.  Classes must have a 5-person minimum and 20-person maximum.  Classes are on a first-come, first-served basis.  For additional registration information, contact Clark Laster at .

Bethpage Camp-Resort also will offer lifeguard re-certification classes.  This class lasts about 2-3 hours and will be conducted every Saturday from May 25-June 29.  Participants only need to attend one class, but must have a Red Cross Lifeguard Certification that expired no less than 1 year ago.  Participants will be required to pass the written test, do all life-guarding prerequisites, which are a 300-yard swim, treading water, and timed brick retrieval tests, and complete two complete scenarios. 

The cost for the class is $65.  Participants should make checks payable to Bethpage Camp-Resort and pay prior to the class.  Classes are on a first-come, first-served basis.  For additional registration information, contact Clark Laster at .

Bethpage Camp Resort also will conduct CPR for the lay responders every Sunday from 10 a.m.-noon, May 26-June 30.  Students must attend only one class and will require students to take a written test and complete two complete scenarios.  This class will cost $50 and will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis.  Participants should make checks payable to Bethpage Camp-Resort and pay prior to the class.  One week notice is required for this class.
