Hearing on condos SUP is May 24

The Urbanna Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Thursday, May 24, at 7 p.m., on a draft ordinance which, if approved by the town council, would revoke the Special Use Permit (SUP) issued to Potomac Timber Investments LLC to build 14 condominiums at Urbanna Yachting Center.

The commission will make a recommendation to the town council, which will decide the fate of the SUP at a later meeting.

The town code states that if no expiration date is specified in a SUP it shall be valid for 5 years. The Potomac Timber SUP was granted on November 16, 2006.

The town council revoked the SUP in July 2007 and the developer filed a $4.5 million lawsuit against the town. However, on July, 2011 Potomac Timber withdrew its case and has not re-filed the lawsuit.
