Fire at Warner leaves four homeless
by Tom Chillemi
Before firefighters could get water on a burning house on Warner Road, the second story collapsed. The fire was called in about 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 1. No one was home at the time, reported Ray Burch, chief of the Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department in Urbanna.
The cause of the blaze that left three adults and a child homeless is unknown. It appears to have started downstairs, said Burch.
Firefighters and equipment from the Upper Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department (UMVFD) in Water View and the Hartfield Volunteer Fire Department also responded.
The Central Middlesex Volunteer Rescue Squad in Urbanna, stood by. There were no injuries.
