On Tuesday, Jan. 27, the Virginia Marine Resources Commission (VMRC) denied a request by Potomac Timber Investments LLC to expand the number of boat slips at the Urbanna Yachting Center Marina, located on Watling Street at Urbanna Creek. The commission’s action followed a public hearing.

Potomac Timber had sought an application to build 139 slips at the marina, which currently has 86 slips.

The previous owner had been granted a VMRC permit for 102 slips. That permit is still valid.

Potomac Timber is also attempting to build 14 condominiums on the 1.4-acre parcel; however, that permit is mired in a lawsuit in Middlesex Circuit Court.
