Democrats plan caucus

The Middlesex County Democratic Committee will hold an assembled caucus beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 23, in the Public Meeting Room of the Cooks Corner Office Complex at 2893 General Puller Highway, three miles east of Saluda, for the sole purpose of electing four delegates and one alternate to the First Congressional District Convention and the Virginia State Democratic Convention.

Any person wishing to seek election as a delegate or alternate must file with Barbara C. Cockrell, chair of the committee. Cockrell can be contacted at (804) 824-4897 or by mail at P.O. Box 116, Urbanna, VA 23175. The filing deadline is 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18. A voluntary filing fee will be charged.

There is no charge for those wishing to attend and vote at the caucus. Doors to the caucus will be opened at 6:30 p.m. for check-in.

Attendees will be required to sign a statement that he or she is a Democrat and does not intend to support any candidate who is opposed to a Democratic nominee in the November election; believes in the principles of the Democratic Party; and is a registered voter in Middlesex County.

Please note that party rules require that the doors be closed promptly at 7:30 p.m. and that no one can be admitted after that time.
