County health department open house set

The Three Rivers Health District of Saluda and the Middlesex County Health Department, in support of National Public Health Week (April 6-12), invite the community to an open house at the Middlesex County Health Department on Tuesday, April 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

National Public Health Week (http://www.nphw.org) is focusing on “Building the Foundation for a Healthy America.” The goal is to raise awareness nationally and locally of public health’s critical role in ensuring healthy families and healthy communities.

Area residents are invited to become better-informed healthcare consumers and learn about the programs and services offered at their local health department.

Free blood pressure screenings will be offered, as well as balloons and face painting for the kids. Enjoy refreshments and tour the facility. For more information, contact the Middlesex Health Department at 758-2381.

The health department is located next to the Puller Building and the former Rappahannock Central Elementary School at Cooks Corner.
