Bay Aging to administer housing choice voucher program for Middle Peninsula
Press Release from Bay Aging
Saluda, Va. – Bay Aging has been selected by the Virginia Housing Development Authority to administer the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program for Virginia’s Middle Peninsula.
The federal HCV program assists very low-income families, the elderly, and the disabled to afford decent and safe housing in the private market.
Bay Family Housing, the housing division of Bay Aging, will administer the program in Planning District 18, which includes Gloucester, Essex, Middlesex, King William, King & Queen, and Mathews counties. Previously, the program was administered by Gloucester County. Karen Dame, who has worked in the Gloucester County Department of Housing since 1998, joins Bay Family Housing on January 3rd as the Housing Program Manager.
Currently, all 177 vouchers designated for the district have been allocated, and 77 families remain on the waiting list.
Bay Aging’s mission is to help people of all ages live independently and with dignity for as long as possible. It does so by helping to meet the needs of the elderly, the disabled, children and youth, the working poor, and those in crisis in the region.
