Art In The Park
by Tom Chillemi
Kathleen Noffsinger will teach a 2-day painting workshop, “Art in the Park” on June 17 and 18, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day at the Holly Point Nature Park and Maritime Museum in Deltaville. Students will work on landscape and seascape drawings and/or paintings from scenes in the gardens, the boat sheds and at the waterfront. This workshop will be for all skill levels and participants may work in any drawing or painting medium with which they are familiar.
“This is a great workshop for all skill levels including beginning painters,” Noffsinger said. “My lessons will emphasize simplifying a scene for painting and choosing colors that capture the lights and darks to make a strong composition.” Noffsinger will demonstrate her painting techniques using transparent watercolor and beginners will work on drawing skills as well as beginning watercolor techniques.
Artists should bring their plein air painting supplies and resource photos. Cost for the workshop is $90. For registration and a supply list please contact Noffsinger at (804) 776-7191 or e-mail her at . A classroom will be available in case of rain.
Noffsinger will be showing her newest original watercolor paintings, “After the Rain” and “Island Garden” for the first time at “Art on Fishing Bay”, an art show and fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, on Friday, June 6, from 5:30 to 9:00 PM. at the Fishing Bay Yacht Club in Deltaville.
