At a meeting on Tuesday, September 22, the Virginia Marine Resources Commission (VMRC) was expected to revisit a “limited entry policy” approved in August that resulted in the revocation of over half of the state-issued oyster dredge licenses and hand scrape licenses.

Middlesex County Public Schools, in cooperation with the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office, continues to be vigilant against security threats. All three public schools now have a school resource officer (SRO). Middlesex Elementary School’s first SRO, Deputy Melinda Hart, started work this month.

The murder trial of Travis Al Baker is scheduled to start Tuesday, September 29, at 9:30 a.m. in Middlesex County Circuit Court in Saluda. Baker, 35, of Water View, is charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm in commission of murder, shooting in an occupied dwelling, and two counts of child endangerment.
