Arts in the Middle award winners have quiet pride
imageEarl Simpson of Wake, who received first place among local artists, was astonished at his selection. “I entered on a lark,” said Simpson, “and I had no idea that I could be in the running for an award. I suppose the judge was pleased with the connection between my simple paintings and my books of poetry.”

County receives $118,000 grant for dredging of Jackson Creek
The Virginia Port Authority Board in Norfolk has awarded Middlesex County a $118,000 grant for dredging the mouth and channel leading into Jackson Creek in Deltaville, Middlesex County Administrator Matt Walker told the Board of Supervisors at its regular monthly meeting on June 7.

‘Museum In The Streets’ project is making progress
