A fire on Friday afternoon left five people without a home. By the time volunteer firefighters arrived, flames were shooting out back windows and smoke was billowing from the eaves. The residents stood across Old Virginia Street and watched helplessly as fire trucks from Urbanna, Water View and Deltaville arrived.
