Democrats plan caucus
The Middlesex County Democratic Committee will hold an assembled caucus beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 23, in the Public Meeting Room of the Cooks Corner Office Complex for the sole purpose of electing four delegates and one alternate to the First Congressional District Convention and the Virginia State Democratic Convention.

County proposes three-cent tax hike
County taxpayers are currently paying 43 cents per $100 of assessed real estate values. If approved, the rate will be raised to 46 cents per $100. Two cents of the 3-cent increase is needed to offset lower real estate values determined by the recent real estate reassessment.

Board okays sports complex financing
The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors voted 4-0 Tuesday to approve a resolution for the issuance of $3 million in general obligation school bonds from the Virginia Public School Authority (VPSA) to finance construction of the Syd Thrift Athletic Complex at Middlesex High School.

Middlesex to quit paying for disposing of commercial trash
The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to eliminate the commercial waste collection program that has subsidized commercial dumpster use throughout the county. Effective July 1, the VPPSA will no longer pick up trash from commercial dumpsters.
