Rappahannock River vista added to ‘endangered list’
The Rappahannock River topped the “Natural, Historic and Cultural Resources Threatened by Utility Infrastructure Projects Statewide” category of Preservation Virginia’s Most Endangered Historic Places released last week.

The Relay for Life of Middlesex will host a “Bark for Life” event on Sunday, May 22, from 1-4 p.m. at the Middlesex County Animal Shelter and Friends For Life Dog Park at Cooks Corner, two miles east of Saluda. The event is in partnership with the shelter.

When Fred S. Crittenden of Hardyville was appointed to the Middlesex County School Board in 1971, Richard Nixon was President. Seven U.S. Presidents would come and go while Crittenden served Middlesex for 41-plus years—9 as a school board member and 32 as a county supervisor.

The Middlesex County School Board begrudgingly approved a $15,920,880 FY17 school budget Monday that calls for no raises for teachers and all other employees, but does provide for the hiring of two additional special education teachers.
