‘Spice’ store owners sentenced to 10 years in prison
The owners of a Gloucester store that sold synthetic marijuana and synthetic amphetamines were each sentenced recently to 10 years in prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release, and were ordered to forfeit $425,000 as proceeds of their drug distribution activities.

Syd Thrift Athletic Complex: An impressive beginning
imageThe grand opening/ribbon cutting of the new Syd Thrift Athletic Complex at Middlesex High School (MHS) in Saluda attracted over 1,200 people to the new facility Friday evening. To add to the festivities, the MHS football team won the first game played at the complex, 21-14 over Mathews.

Meals tax generates over $25,000 in July
The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors learned at its regular monthly meeting on September 2 that the first-month (July) collection of the county’s new 4% meals tax totaled $25,834.88.
