On August 20 Middlesex Sheriff David Bushey gladly accepted the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Ice Bucket Challenge. Bushey’s father died in 1996 of ALS and since that time his family has donated to ALS research.

Urbanna will celebrate its first Founders’ Day this Saturday, August 30, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., with all-day events and special activities that will entertain and educate. At the heart of the celebration is the 1 p.m. dedication of the restored John Mitchell Map at the Visitor’s Center, and a remembrance of our founders.

As part of a recent announcement by Governor Terry McAuliffe of Virginia’s new Oyster Trail, the Governor visited Merroir restaurant on Locklies Creek in Topping on August 21.
