Deborah Pratt dominates shucking contest
VIDEOS: Deborah Pratt of Middlesex County repeated as champion of the 2010 Virginia Oyster Shucking Contest, which was held Saturday at the 53rd Urbanna Oyster Festival. Pratt defeated the men's professional winner Jermaine Brokenborough of Chesterfield in the finals.

Governor reappoints Dr. Kirk Havens to Chesapeake Bay Science Council

Deborah Pratt: still the fastest oyster shucker
imageDeborah Pratt bested her nephew Jermaine Brokenborough in the state oyster shucking contest November 6, at the 53rd annual Urbanna Oyster Festival. Brokenborough actually finished first, but lost the race after his time was adjusted due to penalties.

Lauren Figg crowned Oyster Festival Queen; Emma Fairheart named Little Miss Spat
imageLauren Figg was crowned Queen of the 53rd Urbanna Oyster Festival and Emma Fairheart was crowned Little Miss Spat on Friday in Taber Park. As Urbanna Oyster Festival Queen, Figg received a $5,000 college scholarship. Fairheart received a $150 savings bond.
