Board proposes 12-cent tax hike
The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors voted 3-2 Tuesday to advertise an increase in the county real estate tax rate from 35 cents to 47 cents for fiscal year 2010-11 (FY11).

Four years ago when the road section was closed due to a crack in the pond dam, the Middlesex County Board of Supervisors was ready to take on VDOT and others to get the road reopened. However, on Tuesday the long fight seemed to be over as supervisors discussed whether to abandon the road or officially discontinue use of the road bed over the dam.

Those who get their mail at a post office box will not be receiving U.S. Census forms in the mail, said Fran Sasone, U.S. Postal Service district communications coordinator. Sasone said residents who have a post office box will be contacted by a “census enumerator” between April and September.
