School board apologizes for trashing of trophies
Middlesex County School Board chairman Beth Hurd, on behalf of the school board, made a public apology on Monday to the St. Clare Walker Alumni Association with regard to the apparent trashing of the 1956 and 1957 state basketball trophies won by old St. Clare Walker High School.

Middlesex Metals special zoning exception granted
After 4 years of legal wrangling and following a 3-hour public hearing Tuesday night, the Middlesex County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to grant a special exception to Middlesex Metals, a junkyard and recycling facility in Remlik, to operate in a Low Density Rural (LDR) zone.

Planners approve expansion of Middlesex Metals
Middlesex Metals' plan to expand was endorsed by the Middlesex Planning Commission on a 7-2 vote Thursday, June 10. The special zoning exception application was sent to the the Middlesex Board of Supervisors for a public hearing, which is scheduled for Tuesday, June 15, at 7:30 p.m. in the historic courthouse at Saluda.

Middlesex author is finalist for Nero Award
imageLocal author Brad Parks has been named among three finalists for the prestigious Nero Award, which celebrates literary excellence in the mystery genre. A Middlesex County resident, Parks was nominated for his debut novel, “Faces of the Gone,” which released last December from St. Martin’s Press.
