Irene not as strong as feared, but many still without power

Mathews Market Days set for September 9-10
Mathews Market Days will be held on the Courthouse Green in the heart of Mathews Court House on Friday, September 9, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturday, September 10, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
On Saturday evening the annual Street Dance will be from 8-11 p.m. Admission and parking are free.

Middlesex County Sheriff charged with 25 felonies
imageOn Thursday, August 25, Middlesex County Sheriff Guy L. Abbott was arrested on 25 felony indictments handed down from a Middlesex County special grand jury, reported Brian J. Gottstein, director of communications for the office of the Attorney General of Virginia, in an August 26 email to the Southside Sentinel.
